Iran Athletics Members Denied Visas, U.S. Tour Canceled Again

TEHRAN The U.S. consulate officials in Turkey refused to issue visas for the disabled track-and-field team of Iran, announced the Federation for the Disabled and War-Disabled Sports on Tuesday. Due to the invitation of the U.S. Organization for the Disabled Sports, the athletics team of Iranian invalids was to compete in the Grand Prix races. Earlier, the organizing committee of the tournament had promised to avoid fingerprinting the Iranian athletes but the U.S. authorities did not fulfill their promise and refused to issue visas, IRNA said. Denied by the U.S. consulate, the handicapped track-and-field athletes of Iran are to take part in the world contests in France.
